VinaSecurities and Macquarie Financial Group on Wednesday announced a strategic partnership on such areas as stock market research, capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions and financial consulting service. Mark Duncan, director of Macquarie Securities Group for Asia, said at a news conference in HCMC that Vietnam was a new investment destination after Macquarie had established a presence in 17 cities of 12 Asian countries. In Vietnam, the company will support clients who want to invest in global stock markets, Duncan said, adding he was pinning hopes on the long-term growth potential of Vietnam’s securities market. Talking about the cooperation with Macquarie, Hunt Macnguyen, CEO of VinaSecurities said his stock brokerage could provide better technical support and services for clients. The assembled reporters at the press conference also heard about a staff reshuffle at VinaSecurities. George Lam, chairman of Macquarie Capital Advisers Vietnam, will serve as chairman of VinaSecurities. Macquarie Financial Group from Australia provides banking, finance, investment consulting and fund management services. Established in 1969, the group has 70 offices in 28 countries and manages US$326 billion.
